About Subcontracting
Electrical & Plumbing Subcontractors Across the East Midlands
Whether you’re a main contractor running a build, a property developer fitting out a renovation, or a facilities team needing extra hands for a planned shutdown — Electric-Cal Solutions has the certified trades and the local availability to slot in cleanly with your team. We work with builders, developers, property maintenance firms and main contractors across Worksop, Retford, Doncaster, Sheffield and the wider East Midlands and South Yorkshire as a reliable subcontract option for both one-off jobs and longer-term project work.
We cover NICEIC-approved electrical work across domestic, commercial and light industrial — first fix and second fix, fault finding, EICR testing, EV charger installation and project wiring — alongside qualified plumbing across new builds, refurbishments and ongoing maintenance. No hand-holding required. We show up when we say we will, do the work to spec, sign it off properly under our own credentials where needed, and leave site as we found it. The team you book is the team that turns up — no subcontract chains, no surprise faces, no diluted accountability.

How We Work With Main Contractors
Tell us what you need — project type, location, dates, scope, drawings if you have them. The more detail the better, but a phone call and a rough outline is fine to start. We confirm availability, scope and quote in writing, with clear day rates or fixed pricing depending on what suits the project. All notifiable electrical and plumbing work is signed off and certified under our credentials so the paperwork side is straightforward for you, and we issue invoices on terms we agree before work starts.
We’re happy working as a regular subcontract supplier on rolling projects, or on one-off jobs where you just need a reliable trade to plug a gap. Standard 30-day terms apply for established contract clients, with shorter terms available for one-off jobs or new accounts. Defects rectified promptly if anything is flagged at handover — that’s the standard we work to. If you’d like to discuss using us as a regular trade on your projects, the easiest first step is to get in touch with the project details and we’ll come back with availability and a quote. How We Work With Contractors
Most contractor relationships start with one job and grow from there. Here’s how it usually goes:
- 1. Project enquiry — you send us the scope, dates and any drawings; phone or email
- 2. Quote within 1–2 days — clear pricing, agreed terms, named team
- 3. On-site delivery — the team you booked turns up; no subcontract chains
- 4. Sign-off + certs — notifiable work certified under our credentials
- 5. Repeat work — most clients come back; standard 30-day terms apply

FAQs
What trades can you subcontract?
Electrical (NICEIC-approved) and plumbing (qualified engineers). We can supply individual trades — just an electrician, just a plumber — or co-ordinate both on a single project where you need them working alongside each other. Common project types include new build wiring, renovation first/second fix, EICR test and inspect, EV charger installation packages, bathroom and kitchen plumbing, and ongoing property maintenance call-outs.
Do you work on commercial as well as domestic projects?
Yes. Most of our subcontract work is on domestic and light commercial projects — new builds, refurbishments, fit-outs, and ongoing property maintenance for landlords and lettings agents. We’re comfortable on small-to-medium scale commercial work; larger industrial projects we can discuss on a case-by-case basis. Get in touch with the project details and we’ll confirm fit before quoting.
How quickly can you confirm availability?
Usually within one to two working days. For smaller call-outs we can often confirm same-day. For larger or longer-term projects we’ll arrange a quick call to scope properly before quoting — that way the quote you get reflects what the job actually needs, not a generic estimate that gets bumped later.
Do you provide certification under your own name?
Yes. All notifiable electrical work is signed off and certified under our NICEIC credentials, with EICs issued direct. Plumbing work is similarly certified where appropriate. That keeps the paperwork side straightforward for you — no chasing up paperwork from a third trade, and no questions at handover about who’s responsible for the certificate.
What payment terms do you offer to contractors?
Standard 30-day terms for established contract clients, with shorter terms (typically 7 or 14 days) available for one-off projects or new accounts until we’ve worked together a few times. Larger or longer projects we can structure with stage payments — we’ll always agree this in writing before any work starts so there are no surprises on either side.
